Overview

Seton Home is a licensed residential basic care facility chartered by the State of Texas and licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services as a Basic Child Care Facility. Since 1981, Seton Home has been the only licensed facility in South Texas with significant capacity that focuses services exclusively for homeless pregnant and parenting adolescents who have chosen to keep and parent their children. Our caring staff tailors each plan of services to the individual needs of the client with the goal of preparing her to manage life on her own in a loving environment for her child.

Our services include:

• Residential living environment that reflects healthy, ethical choices
• An environment that promotes the delivery of a healthy baby
• Educational opportunities to help mothers earn a high school diploma or GED
• Quality parenting education
• Counseling and therapy
• Practical living skills designed to promote independence from others and institutions
• On-site childcare that promotes healthy infant and early child development
• Career development and job readiness training
• Spirituality and community building activities

Seton Home was established in response to the critical unmet need of hundreds of homeless parenting teens with no shelter or opportunities for obtaining parenting and life skills that enable them to become nurturing parents and productive citizens.

In an average year Seton Home assists approximately 85 girls and 80 babies. At present, we have the capacity for 40 teens and their children. Residents may stay at Seton Home through age 19, reaping a greater benefit of our services, and increasing their future stability.
