Residential Instructor I (Non-Exempt - Full-Time)

Job Summary:

Teach and redirect residents using the behavior management model.  Provide direct care and supervise daily routine of residents. Follow Texas Department of Family Protective Services minimum standards.  Follow Seton Home policies and regulations. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Learn behavior model and use consistently.
  2. Improve social skills of residents by using the behavior management system to pre-teach, teach and redirect residents when monitoring and supervising resident.
  3. Demonstrate positive role modeling for residents.
  4. Instruct residents on a variety of skills necessary for independent living: parenting, time management, cooking, cleaning, shopping, making appointments, enrolling children in childcare and budgeting.
  5. Instruct residents in the proper use of the transit system for purposes of self transporting.
  6. Instruct residents on the correct way to research and find an apartment.  Plus provides instruction on completing the apartment application and requirements necessary to manage an apartment.
  7. Instruct residents on managing their finances and credit.
  8. Monitor residents and children while they are on campus; phone calls, computer usage, free time, chores, visits and classes.
  9. Monitor residents and children when attending events off campus.
  10.   10.  Complete behavior log notes at the end of each shift.
      11.  Transport residents in a safe and timely manner.
      12.  Comply with record and form requirements.
      13.  Identify resident visitors and allow visits with only those people on the contact list, on campus and when at other locations, i.e. hospital.
      14.  Report emergency repairs to Residential Services Managers.
      15.  Review and follows the events of the daily calendar.
      16.  Obtain required training hours each quarter of the year.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  1. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  2. Knowledge of computer software and keyboard.
  3. Current driver’s license and clean driving record.
  4. Good problem solving skills and ability to manage behavior of adolescents and their children.
  5. Ability to multi-task.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.

Working Conditions:

  1. Ability to work under pressure to meet organizational needs and other deadlines.
  2. Ability to lift 20 to 40 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods of times during shift.
  3. At times, may stand or walk 50% or more of the workday.
  4. May bend, twist, and stoop during workday.

Child Care Provider (Part Time and Full-Time)

Job Summary:

Seton Home, a residential facility for young mothers, is seeking qualified candidates for multiple Child Care Provider Positions. The Child Care Provider will:

  1. Care for infants and toddlers
  2. Maintain classroom management and prepare activities and materials necessary for implementation of curriculum
  3. Responsible for reporting any suspected child abuse, neglect or other issues concerning child safety and well being to immediate supervisor
  4. Reporting necessary repairs/damages/shortages of necessary supplies to immediate supervisor

  Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Knowledge of TDFPS standards and CCDS
  3. Two years related experience working with infants and toddlers
  4. The ability to pass a criminal background check

Work hours are Monday - Saturday. Provider must be available during afternoon hours and Saturday mornings as needed.
